Ryan Antoaa Staycation
Local poet, designer and photographer, Ryan Antoaa, went on a wandering stroll for his DTK Staycation and this is what he reflected on (in his own words)...
For me, the DTK staycation we are all in has been a blessing in many ways; itʼs allowed me to slow down and become an observer to the beautiful things this city has to offer, once again, instead of being caught up in the hustle and bustle of modern life.
The perfect day for me is to do street photography, with no timeline or destination in mind, wandering with wandering thoughts and a camera in hand. This time, the wandering took me to The Yeti Cafe for coffee and a breakfast sandwich along with bread at the nearby Golden Hearth Bakery. Next, a stroll to explore murals and art within the city, coffee with a friend at Show and Tell, a cycling stop to admire Stephanie Boutari's mural outside of AOK Arcade Bar, record shopping at Encore Records to pick up Mac Millerʼs “Circles” and the perfect Banh Mi sandwich at Givral Deli.
All that, and the real treat was just being able to capture beautiful moments in the city (and who am I kidding, I’m addicted to Banh Mi sandwiches).
