Kitchener Public Library
Lovingly referred to as the KPL, the Central Library is the largest library in Kitchener and functions as the administrative headquarters for the four Community Library locations in the Kitchener Public Library system.
Originally built in 1962, Central library saw the completion of a major renovation and expansion project in 2014. In 2015, the Central Library Renovation and Expansion project was the recipient of the prestigious OLA Library Building Award for “Library Architectural and Design Transformation.”
Grab a latte at the Cafe Pyrus outpost and spend the day in the sunlit stacks or participating in the KPLs numerous programs or creative industries labs.
THEMUSEUM
A new kind of experiential museum – one with maverick ideas and unexpected intersections. THEMUSEUM is a premier cultural destination dedicated to presenting fresh content from around the globe in unique and immersive ways designed to showcase art & technology at play.
From Andy Warhol to Jane Goodall to Titanic to STEAM programming THEMUSEUM has emerged as a creative experience for all stages of life and without comparator.
Featuring five levels THEMUSEUM has a little bit of everything…and a whole lot of imagination, education, and good old fashion family fun.
Centre in the Square
CITS Inc. works in the public interest as a presenter and arts enabler, playing a leading role in showcasing the best in local, national and international performers, with over 140 shows and concerts a year for the benefit of our entire region and beyond. Concerts, plays, lectures and comedy are but a few of the genres featured regularly throughout the year. Family programming is a priority, providing wonderful opportunities to introduce children to their first experiences with performing arts.
CITS Inc. also values opportunities for non-traditional partnerships and is committed to providing access in and around the theatre, and expert technical support, for rehearsals, workshops, displays, exhibits, and special events, in order to empower and enable artists of all ages and experience levels.
Registry Theatre
Welcome to The Registry Theatre is Waterloo Region’s premier small venue. Audiences are discovering Kitchener-Waterloo’s Little Gem as the place to enjoy top quality community productions and professional shows. Excellent sightlines, sound and lighting make for a truly satisfying night out in our comfortable and cozy Art Deco building in the heart of downtown Kitchener.
KWAG
Waterloo region’s leading public art gallery, the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery (KWAG), connects people and ideas through art. Its nationally acclaimed exhibitions and programs welcome all to be inspired and challenged through a deepened understanding of ourselves, our cultures and our communities. For the benefit of current and future generations, the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery collects, preserves, researches, interprets, and exhibits the visual arts. It offers dynamic public programs that inspire creativity and an appreciation of the visual arts in the Region and beyond.
Joseph Schneider Haus
A local landmark and Kitchener's oldest dwelling, the 1816 homestead was restored and furnished, then opened as a living history museum in 1981. The heart of the complex is the fine Georgian-frame farmhouse built by one of the area's earliest non-Aboriginal settlers, Joseph Schneider, a Pennsylvania-German Mennonite.
Joseph Schneider Haus also features an exhibit gallery that is separate to the historic haus and five outbuildings and two historic gardens located on site.
Conrad Centre
The Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts is a vibrant and dynamic cultural space in the heart of downtown Kitchener. The 24,000 square foot performing arts facility, located at 36 King Street West, includes a flexible 300-seat theatre, versatile rehearsal hall, four dressing rooms and a green room.
