Creative spaces

Downtown Kitchener is home to a growing network of creative spaces where artists, entrepreneurs, and community builders come together. These spaces support local talent, host events and pop‑ups, and help shape the creative heartbeat of the downtown core. Explore the studios, shops, and public spaces that fuel DTK’s artistic energy.

44 Gaukel Creative Workspace

44 Gaukel is a shared creative workspace in the heart of DTK, offering below‑market studios, shared workspaces, and resources for artists, cultural practitioners, and creative entrepreneurs. It supports makers across visual arts, performance, digital media, design, and more, and has become a vibrant hub for collaboration and artistic growth.

Gaukel Block

Located just outside 44 Gaukel, Gaukel Block transforms a pedestrian‑friendly stretch of Gaukel Street into a lively community space. It regularly hosts markets, performances, festivals, and creative pop‑ups, giving locals and visitors a place to gather, shop, and experience downtown culture in action.

Square Peg

Square Peg is a retail and maker space featuring goods from local artists, indie brands, and small businesses. With rotating vendors, handmade products, and creative pop‑ups, it offers a one‑of‑a‑kind shopping experience while giving emerging makers a platform to showcase their work.
